Miles came from a local guinea pig rescue in San Mateo, Cavy Spirit. He lived in a herd of five piggies, and after five years, he was the last pig standing. He had always been a "pig's pig" more than a "people's pig," and at that point, he was deaf and blind and incontinent, so I wasn't sure how he would adjust to being a single pig. Well, like a king! He lived to be seven and a half years old, and every single night for the last two years, he spent four to six hours on my lap, hand-fed limitless treats and goodies, cuddled close to me. He was very happy, and he ruled the household. He died of age related issues with his digestive system, six months ago, and I still miss him every single day.
