Pet’s rescue story in 500 words or less
Astrid is a mixed breed dog. We think she is part Boxer. All we know for sure is that she weighs 47 lbs and that she is a good dog. Her life got off to a rough start.
On August 4th, 2024 Astrid was picked up by Brevard County Animal Services wandering down the street in Palm Bay. She was sick with vomiting, kennel cough, and intestinal parasites. She was so terribly distressed about being in the pound that they gave her medicine for anxiety. Animal Services treated her infections and she started feeling better. They estimated that she was over one year old. They spayed her and gave her all her vaccinations.
On September 5th a nice couple decided to foster her. They discovered that she was highly intelligent, friendly, and curious about everything. After only 2 months, their living situation changed and they were going to return Astrid to the pound. They soon learned that animals that get returned to the pound get euthanized, so they posted her on the Facebook group, “Rehoming Free Animals in Brevard County Florida.”
Our family had been stalking this Facebook group for two years. The moment we saw the listing, we knew she would be the perfect addition to our family. We went to meet her and we loved her instantly. We had planned a vacation, but we would adopt her as soon as we got back into town. When we returned from our vacation, we found out that they were moving THAT DAY, and we had to come get her RIGHT AWAY. We saved her life that day!
We have enjoyed her in our family since November 30th. We go on multiple walks each day. She makes friends with everyone she meets. We joined the Satellite Beach Dog Park where she loves running with her friends in the pack. We completed the Pet Smart Beginning Dog Training with Cyrise on Evans Road and found out that she has lots of potential and has learned tons of tricks. She will do anything for a treat! She loves to play Keep Away and Monkey in the Middle. She is also really good at cuddling and sleeping the day away.
We are so glad we rescued her!
