Rescue Story
After losing two beloved pugs over the years and going 4 years with no pug, we knew something was missing.
Bowser was only a year old, but he had already been surrendered twice. Before rescue, much of his life had been spent in a crate. He came with a history full of rejection, thousands of dollars in professional training, and a ton of pent up energy.
On January 11, 2025, Bowser came home. We expected a transition period, but Bowser had other ideas.
Within hours, he claimed the best spot on the couch, annexed the bed, and began issuing demands for snacks as if he had been paying the mortgage all along. His confidence was impressive for someone who had just moved in.
This last year has been equal parts comedy and healing. We’ve worked through new routines, built trust, survived veterinary adventures, and discovered that Bowser believes all food belongs to him. Every meal is apparently a negotiation (he always wins.)
But somewhere between the snoring, the stubbornness, the daily laughs, and the countless pug hairs covering every surface of our home, something remarkable happened. A dog who had been given up on learned what it meant to stay. And we learned, once again, how much room there is in our a hearts for another rescue.
Bowser doesn’t know he was rescued. He just knows he is finally home. And if you ask him, he’ll tell you he owns the place.
