Rescue Story
Spunky doesn’t even begin to describe Mekko! She is almost 16 yrs old and has been with Pug Rescue of Florida twice now. A wonderful and loving home was found for her several years ago, but Mekko’s person passed away last year and she came back to PROoF so that we could care for her.

When Mekko came back to PROoF she had some chronic medical conditions that we helped to address. She is now a member of our hospice program and that means she will stay with one of our amazing foster families who will manage her medical care for the rest of her life to keep her comfortable and pain free.

Mekko is a happy girl -- she spends her days lounging around in the Dog Room at her foster home, along with pug brothers. She likes to go outside a few times a day to get some sun. After her meals she likes to sit on the couch and watch tv with her foster mom and take a long nap. Once she’s rested up, she will play with one of her soft toys or chew on a bone.

As one of our Hospice Pugs Mekko has been busy working on her Bucket List -- thanks to her adoring fans and supporters she has enjoyed a day at a doggie spa, had her nails painted in rainbow colors, been an official treat tester, attended a doggie pool party, chewed on a big bone, and her foster mom helps her dress up for each holiday!

She may not have a very long life, but she has a great life, and her foster family is dedicated to making sure that this final leg of her journey will be the best part of it.
