Pixie and her sister Twinkie were born in an outdoor feral cat colony, where they lived the first 5 months of their life. In a collaborative effort, a local rescue and animal control team successfully trapped over 40 cats, including the sisters. Having missed the typical socialization period as kittens, they arrived fearful of humans. Enjoying the challenge of socializing semi-feral cats, I volunteered to foster the pair. I had to work hard to gain their trust, bribing them with their favorite toys and treats. With baby steps, they transformed into loving, quirky house cats. Despite their transformation, they remained very shy during adoption events, struggling to find permanent homes. After months of searching, I couldn't bear the thought of parting with them, opting to make them a permanent part of my family where they are loved everyday for who they are.
