In Loving Memory of Smiley Smiley was adopted from Little Paws Dachshund Rescue ten years ago. He came from Georgia, where he had been abandoned on a highway beneath a mile marker. Originally named Miles, his name was soon changed to Smiley—a perfect fit for the permanent grin created by his sweet underbite. Despite a heartbreaking past that included abuse and being shot at, with metal BBs still lodged in his body, Smiley never lost his joy. He was the happiest dog, loving everyone he met and bringing smiles to others simply through his gentle, sweet personality. He was affectionate, cuddly, and always eager for attention and love—sometimes even more than food. Smiley adored car rides and treasured time spent with us on the patio, happily chasing squirrels and rabbits. He loved dressing up and even won first prize in a Halloween contest dressed as Dracula. He was gentle and kind with our cat, Stewart, and had many friends at Wags Day Care in Wenham. He greeted us with pure happiness every time we came home. Smiley was a joyful presence in our lives every single
