Christina was born a micro preemie, 40 years ago when facilities for the babies were pioneering. She's overcome inexplicable odds; a 14% chance of survival, not counting quality of life. When the Chief Neonatologist handed her to me to take home, after 212 days in the NICU, he said not to expect much from her, as was expected to be blind and in a vegetative state. Immediate early-intervention and life long dedication has gotten her where she is. She is God's living, breathing miracle, as well as my hero.
