We rescued Elly Belle, her mama and 2 siblings at 1.5 weeks old from a community member. Her 2 siblings were in very poor health and sadly, we had to euthanize them several days later. Elly was so sick that in two separate instances we were close to euthanasia, but each time, she rallied and showed us her fighting spirit. She wanted to fight, so we fought with her. She is now 6 weeks old and it’s been a fight, almost day to day with her. We’ve given round the clock care with little and no sleep and work the next day. We have spend hours dribbling drop by drop of formula into her mouth, terrified of aspiration. She developed pneumonia, with a severe URI and has been on 2 antibiotics and steroids for almost a month. She then developed an eye ulcer that is very slow to heal. We’ve even had her to the ER for respiratory distress. But, she continues to fight and seems to have finally won the battle. She is winning everyday and we are thankful to help her on her journey.
