Wally is the definition of a rags‑to‑riches success story, wrapped in a blocky Bulldog grin and powered by a spirit that refused to quit. At five years old, he was found wandering along the side of a road in Durham, thin, exhausted, and carrying more challenges than any dog should. When a kind woman stopped her car, Wally didn’t hesitate for a second — he jumped right into the passenger seat as if he knew his rescue had finally arrived. CrisisDogsNC Rescue quickly discovered the full picture: he was severely underweight, battling heartworms and hookworms, and already developing early arthritis in his back legs. But even then, his tail never stopped wagging. Through every treatment, every meal, every moment of healing, Wally stayed joyful, trusting, and full of love. Today, he’s in the final stages of his heartworm treatment, has reached a healthy weight, and is thriving in his foster home. He adores people, sticks to his humans like Velcro, plays happily with his doggie foster siblings, and radiates the sweetest, most loving personality. Wally hopes to win Top Pup because he embodies true resilience — a dog who had every reason to give up, but instead chose hope, healing, and a future filled with love.
