Hi, my name is Amira! I should be your spokesdog because us pit bulls sure do need more positive representation! Our reputation is undeserved, and makes people less likely to adopt us. Did you know more than HALF of all pit bulls in the US are in need of homes? I am so lucky to have found mine! My parents saw me on social media and drove 5 hours to rescue me before they had even met me, after seeing me on social media! I think it was my pretty smile that got them. While they don’t know a whole lot about my past, I had been found by animal control as a stray, and I ran right up to the officer that came to save me! I then spent six months living in the shelter, which was a very stressful and overstimulating environment for me. They can tell I had puppies at some point and my previous owner was not nice to me, because I would wince at loud noises or quick movements. Now that I know I am safe, I am a happy, confident bundle of energy!
