Roger’s story begins with a little sadness. We had a dog named Tucker, who passed away last April after a 2 year bout with lymphoma. We have a second dog, Hailey, and even though we thought we’d wait a while before adopting again, Hailey missed her buddy and needed a companion. We stumbled upon Roger on a shelter website and saw he had been there for over a year. Being 9 years old at the time, we were told he’d been passed up often, because not many people want to adopt a senior dog. We decided to take a chance on him and would never be the same. To our pleasant surprise, Roger is so full of life and love and has been an absolute blessing to our family, and to Hailey. Tucker died a week before his 8th birthday, and while it shattered us that he didn’t get to enjoy the last parts of his life, it gave us an opportunity to adopt Roger and give him the best ending we can.
