Hi, I'm Mia! I am a super energetic dog whose favorite hobbies include running on the beach, chasing birds, squirrel watching, and endless zoomies. I am a happy dog who loves meeting new people, but that wasn't always the case. I was too much to handle for my first family, so I was returned to the shelter. I was very sad and anxious and had a difficult time warming up to people after that. When my mom came to the shelter "just to look," it was love at first sight. Even though I was a scared little thing with kennel cough and severe separation anxiety, we knew we were the perfect match for each other. You see, my mom was going through a difficult time too. She was new to Charleston and was going through a difficult divorce. She was struggling with depression while I was struggling with anxiety - so, we decided to work as a team! She helped me overcome my separation anxiety and fear of new people, and I comforted and supported her when she was feeling down. With a lot of love and patience, we grew stronger, more confident, and overcame our struggles together.

I would make the best ambassador because not only did my mom rescue me and give me the chance to become the happy dog I am today, but I also rescued her right back! I'm more than just a rescue dog - I'm a loyal friend, the best teammate, and forever family.
