Hi there world, my name is Axel (I also answer to Axel-dog, Axel-pup, and Boogie). Before my fabulous life here in Charleston... well, things were not so great. I was found all the way in Benson, Arizona in 2012 and even though an amazing rescue took me to PetSmart adoption events every weekend to see all the people....after over six months no one had taken me home.

I LOVE people. Man, I love people. And I'm really great too, all obedient and everything. But I'm a Pitbull (actually, my breed is Staffordshire Terrier if you want to be accurate) and I'm a black dog. I don't really get why that matters...but I guess it does? So all these people, they just kept passing me by. Every weekend I sat and puppy smiled and wagged my tail and watched the other dogs go to forever homes. It was really getting me down. Everyone noticed I was sad and not my usual wonderful self (really usually SO wonderful).

Finally, my mom adopted me because she's the greatest (like me). In 2013, we drove cross country to settle in Charleston. Thank goodness, because I love grass. I mean REALLY love the stuff. Life's been good, but for a while it really wasn't, all because of my breed. Being ambassador will help encourage others to rescue pit bull breed dogs getting passed by like I was. We're good dogs and we deserve good homes. So please help me remind people we're wonderful too!
