I'm Marty, and I'm paws down the best choice for ambassador! A Southern pup at heart, I was abandoned outside of a store in Mississippi. An animal control officer saved me and brought me to the shelter, where I tested heartworm positive. I charmed the staff at the AC, so they contacted a rescue in southern Illinois to give me me a fighting chance at being adopted. I hitched a ride with a transport to the rescue, where I started a slow-kill heartworm treatment. Soon I was adopted, but that house had another dog who didn't want me around. I was returned to the rescue with wounds to my face, neck and ear. I became sad and withdrawn. But then a lady saw a picture of me online, and she knew I was meant for her family. So I hitched another ride to go a few hours north, where the best family took me to my forever home. At first I was afraid this was another temporary place, but I soon relaxed. I run and play with three boys, go for walks, lay in the sun, and have all the tummy rubs I want...it's heaven! Unfortunately, the first heartworm treatment didn't work, so soon I'll start an aggressive treatment with strict rest. It'll be hard because I'm scared of cages, and I love playing fetch. My family will take good care of me, though, and I'll be back to zoomies in the yard in no time!
