Barney was a rescue from the Hilton Head shelter. We drove back to Charleston with him and he was literally scared to death. He hid under the seat and didn’t move a muscle. We got to our house and, still in collar and leash, he jumped out of our car and ran away for 2 months. We searched every day, high and low. He was spotted on the daily eating from neighbor’s outdoor food supplies, but no one could catch him. We tried absolutely everything. One of our neighbors was finally successful in getting him on a leash. He spent the whole next week in the back of our closet, shaking when anyone approached him. It took a lot of patience and work but Barney is the most incredible dog you’ll ever meet! He has become the ambassador of the neighborhood-it literally took a village!! He is the epitome of a rescue dog :)
