Tell us why your pet is the best ambassador for the Palmetto Rescue Brew Beer (from your pet's perspective)
I was put up for adoption 3 and a half years ago because my original owners were not able to care for a French Mastiff with epilepsy. My new parents had a daughter with epilepsy and they understood, with certain precautions, I’m just like any other dog. Both of my parents are in public education. Mom a School Psychologist and dad a 26 year Special Education teacher who use my story with students to educate them on epilepsy. They learn what to do if someone has a seizure along with realizing we are the same as everyone else. We just have certain precautions and medications we take. My medication is the same as many of his students who have epilepsy.
I’m so very grateful to be in a family that loves and cares for me. I’m also proud that I can be a source of education and help to others who may not understand the condition of epilepsy. I think I’m a great example of, just because you have a handicap or certain condition it doesn’t mean you can’t contribute to society and lead a productive life. It’s our differences that make us special. I’ve overcome obstacles with the help of my parents who show me love everyday. I also know their lives and others are better because they adopted me. My human cousin, Greg Olsen, has helped many people and organizations like MUSC through his Halve a Heart Foundation. I’m following in his paw/footsteps.
