Hello, my name is Burt. I’m a handsome guy with a big heart. My life started off pretty great — I was a family pet, trained to do all kinds of fun things. I loved making people happy and keeping them safe.

But things changed. My family split up, and my main person left. The others decided they couldn’t take care of me anymore, and seeing me reminded them of the end of their relationship. So they packed up my things and put me on Facebook for free. I didn’t understand what was happening.

A young couple took me in next, but they didn’t have the time, space, or ability to care for a big boy like me. Luckily, they brought me to the RISPCA, where people finally understood me. They took good care of me and helped me find my true forever home.

Now I’m living the life I always wanted. I love hugs — I lean right into people when they hold me. I’m playful, happy, loyal, and sometimes I still run around like a puppy. I may be a big boy, but I’ve got the softest heart.

My family is so happy to have me, and I’m even happier to have them.
