Kaya was surrender to the Santa Cruz shelter when she was 9 months old. She had to give up her human family and her brother who who was 1 1 /2 years old. It took her about 6 months to adjust to her new living situation. Now she owns every high point in the yard from the top of the hot tub cover to the deck table in order to guard the suburban neighborhood.
