Lulu was in a pet store when we stopped in to buy a dog treat. We’d lost our 16-year-old cockatiel recently and were not planning on buying a replacement; however, we saw this little female and asked about her. They told us she’d been there several weeks because males are more desirable. We asked if we could hold her, and when they took her out of the cage she flew right to me. We knew she needed us, and we needed her. After her first molt, she started singing and her colors brightened; she’s really a he!
