About Us

Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center (S.P.A.R.C.) is Ventura County, California's first and only non-profit, No Kill animal shelter dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming the abandoned pets of Santa Paula through education and close relationships with community and rescue partners. Only  a short distance from the outskirts of Los Angeles in Southern California, SPARC is a unique partnership between public and private resources with a shared goal of creating a more humane, “no kill” system for saving the homeless and abandoned animals of our community.  We hope, with the success of SPARC, this prototype can be recreated in other Ventura County cities, so that a growing part of the county animal shelter services can be returned to local management, thereby relieving the serious overcrowding at the county facility in Camarillo.  In the long run, smaller, local shelters can attract a larger volunteer and foster corps, make relocation of lost pets easier on residents and provide a more convenient location for license renewals and adoptions.

Pet overpopulation is a community problem and SPARC presents a humane, community-based solution, which, with your help, will set the precedent for a no kill option for all animal shelters, everywhere.
