Pet's Story
Yondu is a Crested Gecko that was found in a tiny makeup case in a dumpster in Mission Valley in May 2017 and was taken to the local Emergency Veterinary Hospital where I'm a technician. My coworkers know my affinity for the reptiles and called me right away. We got an enclosure and set her up that night in her new home.
Her eating behavior is odd. She's not a big fan of eating insects, but eats a commercially made complete gecko diet very well when syringe-fed. It's a routine we don't mind because she's really awesome and totally worth the effort.
Yondu isn't as jumpy as most cresties and seems to like coming out and hanging with us. Crested geckos are crepuscular, meaning they're active at dawn and dusk, so when we sit down to watch our evening TV shows, she comes out from hiding in her pothos plant and stares at us until we get her out. She stamps around a bit and eventually rests on our lap.
Yondu is our only Crested Gecko and I think she's spoiled us. She may only be a whopping 54 grams, but she fills our hearts every day ♥
