Pet's Story
We adopted Irene from San Diego Humane Society in 2017. She came to the shelter as a stray and clearly hadn't been cared for in a while. Irene was about 12 years old and had pages and pages of medical notes, a really bad haircut (she had to be shaved because her hair was so matted), and the most ridiculous face I had ever seen. Even though we consider ourselves to be dog people and had never had a cat, we just couldn't resist. We didn't know how much time we'd have with her, but however much time, it was going to be in our home getting spoiled and loved. Irene constantly entertained us with her scowls and judgy looks and yowling to get her way. Her personality did not match her grumpy face though - she was the sweetest girl who loved to be close to her people and was happiest when lying on a lap or chest or back or wherever she could fit! There is nothing better than adopting and loving a senior pet, and I am forever grateful to Irene for making me a cat person too.
