Pet's StoryRuby was a stray after giving birth to many babies and making the breeders much money. She was mostly blind and deaf. She would travel with us to San Diego and Vegas, she was a star. So many folks stopped to see her, we were able to promote rescue adoption, not breeders, who left her on the street. People learned about her breed and how she was an overbred Shar Pei who the breeders did not do the necessary eye and ear surgery. She passed away last year of complications of no dental care and infection. During the 2 years we had her she became the cover girl of how breeders continue to overbreed Shar Pei to the point where they are abandoned due to the overwhelming medical expense. We shared her story to many at the Ocean Beach dog park. We love that place and are constantly amazed at the dogs and owners who come there.
