Pet's StoryWhen I was a volunteer, I adopted Yortoise in 2016 from the Escondido Campus. My son wanted a tortoise, and I overheard staff saying that a tortoise just arrived at the shelter. I said, "sign me up" thinking I was getting a little tortoise. Oh my, I went out to the tortoise yard and was greeted by a 50lb dinosaur! I have had Yortoise for 7 years now, and he reminds me daily to take life at a slower pace.
