Pet's Story
Fern and her cousin Woodrow came to Robin's Nest Rescue with Gus & Gandalf, our other two Huacaya Alpacas, in 2022. Fern & Woodrow are a bit younger and more curious, having come to the ranch as two-year-olds. They have fun, distinct personalities and are the first to try to “assist” in ranch projects. Fern was named after the female deer in Bambi, and Woodrow got his handle from the Lonesome Dove character (based on a famous rancher and Texas Ranger) played by Tommy Lee Jones. Fern is often the star of the show and loves to give “kisses,” though Woodrow is a close second as “most friendly!” Fern’s favorite treat is butterscotch horse treats and Woodrow’s is bite-size carrots. They also LOVE water! They don’t particularly care for pats on the head or when dinner is late.
