Pet's Common Name and/or Species Name
Big Bend Patch-nosed Snake (Salvadora hexalepis deserticola)

A little about me...
A sleek, agile serpent native to the arid landscapes of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, its defining feature is the unique scale on its snout, which gives the species its name. This "patch nose" is believed to aid in digging through loose soil or sand in search of prey, making it perfectly adapted to its desert habitat.

This snake blends seamlessly into its rocky and sandy surroundings, actively searching during the day for lizards, small mammals, and even reptile eggs. Quick and alert, it relies on speed to evade predators, often darting into cover with impressive agility.

This one was found in Southern Arizona on a beautiful summer day, and was photographed showing off the incredible view it enjoyed.
