The rest of his “Toy Story”-themed litter all adopted, we took Ham home to foster during the flooding of March 2016 to help make room at Southern Pines for dogs affected by the rising water. We had every intention of following through with our foster mission--to keep Ham temporarily and to take him back to the shelter so he could find a forever family--but in the few weeks he stayed with us the more we realized we wanted that forever family to be US. Ham’s sweet personality had managed to win over my “not a dog person” husband, and the rest is history.

Fast forward to two years later... we couldn’t imagine life without this sweet, crazy pupper.

Ham is the “zoomie king” of our household, connoisseur of all things that smell delicious (this includes trash), cuddler extraordinaire, shredder of anything cardboard, master of mischievousness and mayhem, winner of the “most handsome ears” contest two years running (est. 2016), stealer of blankets, daily tour guide of our neighborhood’s mailboxes, chewer-upper of flip flops. He is the best pupper imaginable, and totally 'Krewe of Paws' King material. I mean just look at those ears... they were totally made for wearing a crown, ermiright?!
