How did you come to adopt your rescue animal and how does your pet bring joy to your life?
After loosing my beloved Chihuahua to liver failure, I was lost and knew I wanted another little boy to shower with love. I searched for months to find the perfect little one and then found Gunner. I fell in love with him immediately and knew he needed me as much as I needed him. Coming from a hoarding situation, he was unsocialized and cowered, trembling in the back of the kennel. After the adoption approval, I brought him home and started the slow and tedious process of teaching him love and trust, how to walk on a leash, potty manners and a soft touch. For weeks I could barely touch him. Although he wanted to be loved he was so afraid. Eventually, he learned to trust and found comfort in a warm lap and loving arms. His personality flourished and he is now the love of my life! IF it weren't for Rosie and South Side Animal Shelter, I would never have found him! How amazing that something so little; a 3 pound pup could bring so much love and joy to my heart! I am forever grateful for the amazing work that South Side Animal Shelter does in caring for the sick, lost, discarded and strays. They go above and beyond to make sure every adopted pet will have a happily ever after home. The depth of my gratitude to these people is immeasureable. Special thanks to Alice!
