How did you come to adopt your rescue animal and how does your pet bring joy to your life?
My family had recently lost our beagle of 14 years and it felt like there was a huge void in my life. I knew I wanted another dog to fill the void, but I had to make sure I was ready to adopt again, since this time the dog would be solely my responsibility. After a few months, I thought I was all set to adopt a dog from a local rescue, until they gave me the news that because I lived on a busy street, they would not adopt to me. I had also had several other adoption inquiries fall through. I was starting to get discouraged. Then I searched PetFinder again and this time for any type of hound, not just beagles. That's when I found Bailey (LNA Finchurch) at Southside. The day after my other adoption fell through, I went to meet Fin, right before the shelter closed for the day. I immediately fell in love and adopted her right then and there. I thought oh gosh, a puppy, what have I gotten into? Yes we have been through all the puppy stuff together, but I love her so much, it's been worth it all. She can be very sweet and loves people. We have lots of adventures. She has a very different personality than my previous dog, but all the little dog things she does I missed so much and now I feel whole again.
