How did you come to adopt your rescue animal and how does your pet bring joy to your life?
In 2014, I decided to foster a dog..I saw a Facebook posting for an old Doxie at the shelter and I knew he was the one. I filled out the foster app but found out he had already found a place.The next day I got a call that he was still at Southside and I could come get him. So on a hot Saturday morning, I headed out to get him. It was crowded at the shelter and lots of people, lots of barking..we found him in a cage. And my heart just broke. One eye, infected mouth and ears, skinniest dog I ever saw. He was trying to lick a piece of hard food. I remember saying..gimme that dog and within minutes we were outta there. He sat on my daughter's lap and looked at us like..I have been waiting. Let's go..it took a while to get him better. I remember talking to Janice on the phone when she asked if I wanted to adopt Jackson..I.could never let him go. He is older now and a bit frail. But still very bossy, very vocal and very much the heart of my heart. We were meant to be and I cannot imagine my life without him.
