How did you come to adopt your rescue animal and how does your pet bring joy to your life?
There was just something missing in our family of four....
We had stopped by PetSmart to just "peek" at the animals. Something we had done on several occasions in the past. They happen to be having an adoption day for cats from The Southside Animal Shelter. I had my oldest daughter (Age 16) with me who ended up in the room with all of the cages. Then my phone rang and it was my brother telling me that my sister had cancer and it was terminal. I broke down and walked away. When I got off the phone, I looked in the room and saw my daughter holding this handsome 4 month old black tuxedo kitten named "Luck". Coincidentally, Andrew Luck was playing in the playoffs that same weekend. As I looked through the window I saw "Luck" snuggled and hugging her. My sister was a huge cat lover & pretty much fed all of the strays that wondered up at her small home in Florida. Working at an animal clinic, she had many of the strays spayed & neutered to try and help the population. Finding out that she was terminal was devastating, however, I felt like we were there at the exact right time and that Sherlock ('Luck') was meant to be a part of our family. I didn't even hesitate when my daughter asked if we could adopt him. He has brought so much joy to our family and we enjoy his caring personality every day!
