Bisquit was surrendered to the SPCA in January 2025. I had been looking for a medical case to foster and he fit the bill! This senior little 6lb dog had only a few tufts of fur remaining, his skin was in horrible shape and was crusty and painful. His nails were overgrown, his ears were full of infection, and he needed several teeth removed that were rotting. I took him home the very same day to start his treatment, which included several medications and baths every other day. It was so cold out and his little body was so frail, he was miserable for baths, so I bought a towel warmer so he could at least be dried in something warm.

After a few weeks, his fur started coming back and his little personality began to shine. Bisquit may have been a small dog, but he had very big opinions! He started going back and forth to work with me and even to the gym. Once he was looking and feeling better, I started to find him another foster or adopter to finish his journey, but he had other plans. While I was in his sight, he was calm and easy going. As soon as he could no longer see me, he began barking incessantly until he was reunited with me. I figured with time, he’d grow out of it, but he never did.

I eventually realized that he wouldn’t be happy with anyone else – and honestly, I couldn’t bear the thought of letting him go, so a few months later, Bis officially became part of my pack! Since then, he has gone everywhere with me. From networking events, to vacations and conferences, and everywhere in between. When I’m out and about, he is either in his stroller or he is in his pouch on my hip.

It’s not just me who is smitten with him, either! My co-workers adore him just as much. Every morning, he trots down to the human resources office where Dawn gives him a little treat – and he then leaves her a little treat. (Have a mentioned that he’s not housebroken? At 14 years old, he has no intention of changing that.) He also stops by Pat, our CFO’s, office every afternoon for his turkey lunch. Everyone who meets him, adores his naughty little self.

In between his demanding my attention and bullying my other dogs into doing what he wants and picking up his little surprises he leaves around for me, he somehow turned me into his biggest fan. There isn’t a thing in the world I wouldn’t do for that little dog and he knows it!

Why does your pet deserve to be crowned Purr-rom royalty?
If it wasn’t already super obvious, Bisquit is the king of my house and of my heart. He didn’t always have a great life, but I’m determined that the rest of his life is full of love and adventure! I think making it official and crowning him kind of Purr-rom is just the best way to celebrate all that makes him Bisquit.
