Pet's Story or Bio
In late June I had to put down my 10 year old Corgi. I've always enjoyed having two dogs and wanted a companion for my remaining rescue mutt Frodo. I adopted Leia at the SPCA on July 20, 2017.
I had come to see a different dog. As all the pups were going crazy and barking from their pens, Gizmo (as she was named then) sat quietly in her spot and made fixed eye contact. It reminded me of the behavior of a Shepherd-Chow mix we adopted there 26 years ago.
I had brought Frodo with me with the sense that we would be taking someone home with us today. The SPCA staffer felt they were a good mix and they are! In completing the paperwork I was surprised to find out Leia had been there a month already. When we got home I discovered she can sit, stay, lie down and is house broken. Someone trained her well and she is very loving and affectionate.

My son wanted to take her to Stillwater Cove right before he headed back to college on the East Coast. She loved chasing a ball and was really good off leash. She is very loyal and stayed by our sides. She chased the ball for two hours. This was the photo taken that day. Both my kids are at out of state colleges. Leia and Frodo make a perfect pair and we have a happy home. I thank the couple that loved her enough to surrender her as they went though a divorce. They should be happy to know she has a great future and is cherished.
