Pet's Story or Bio
Duke's story started when he was left in a box infront of a Walmart in Paso Robles nearly 15 years ago. He & his litter mates were taken to the local animal shelter on Highway 1, outside of San Luis Obispo. I would routinely stop at that shelter on my way home from school to give treats and spend time with the dogs. From the moment I saw him, I knew he was the dog for me. I named him Duke. Duke didn't care much for cats, or mail delivery people. He was by my side through college, marriage, the loss of my parents and the birth of my daughter. He was always there for me. We spent 14 awesome years together and last month, when his body could no longer keep up with his heart, I made the hardest decision to end his pain. I'm sure there are many dogs out there named Duke, but to me there is only one Duke. He was my once in a lifetime best friend.
