Pet's Story or Bio
We wanted to provide our energetic puppy Dakota a doggie friend and play mate. We discovered a browned eyed lab mix at the SF SPCA, who immediately sat next to my husband and on his feet, that did it. She was about 30 pounds underweight and apparently it was recent that she had puppies herself, but then abandoned. When we were able to bring her home, she found the darkest place in the house, did not like the camera phone being pointed at her and feared the camera click sound, she would cower and walk away to her safe dark spot. We had to get creative about how and when we took her photo, thank goodness for the zoom on the phone. The first night I fed her she darn near knocked me over to get to the food, so a bit of self regulation training was in order. Molly turned into a motherly role for our puppy Dakota, loved to eat apples off the tree and could sit watching a gopher hole for up to seven hours, talk about self regulation! A few months ago Molly was diagnosed with a degenerative disk issue in her back and temporarily lost the use of her back legs, so she had to wear a blue harness for support to get outside. She improved just could not run or jump. Also at that same vet appointment a small cancer cell was found by her spleen. Unfortunately, 3 months later the cancer aggressively grew and a few weeks ago we made the hard decision to let her go. She gave us and our now 5 year old puppy Dakota love, licks, protection, laughs, and companionship. We dedicate the photos on behalf of our "Big Girl" Molly. We love and miss our Molly with the big brown eyes.
