Pet's Story or Bio
My wife and I are residents of San Antonio Texas but we have enjoyed owning a home here in Carmel by the Sea for many years. At first we were back and forth with dogs but over time and for many reasons our pet family became all feline. All of our cats love Carmel and they are now experienced travelers, making the journey many times. They spend their summer days here sunning on a deck overlooking the Pacific and enjoying life in coastal California.

Tilley is a 7-year-old female who was among two litters of kittens I trapped after they were abandoned in Brackenridge Park, Texas where I led the park’s conservancy. We were scheduled to leave for our summer vacation to Carmel in just a couple of days and the kittens were too young for a shelter and no foster could be found, so we loaded everyone up, new kittens and our cats, and off we went to California, it was an adventure.

The SPCA of Monterey County assisted us with vetting the kittens and eventually helping us find homes for a couple of them. Tilley spent some time at the SPCA but was deemed “unadoptable” for her fearful behavior. With no other acceptable options for her, she became part of our feline family. She was a difficult case but over time, and with the later addition of another abandoned cat with whom she bonded, Anette (who Tilley now considers mom)), she has finally managed the crossing over to happiness! She is now a purring and playful house cat, and she makes it known she prefers Carmel to Texas!
