Bonjour! Rowan recently celebrated his 16th birthday and it was a day filled with merry and joy. Read on to see why in this story of serendipity.

It all began once upon a time after Rowan was rescued from the mean streets of Austin back in ‘05. He found his way to a new life and family where they cook for him (lamb steak and veggies, monsieur!) and give him massages (a little to the left, mademoiselle!)

When his human signed his adoption papers, she realized he was rescued ON her birthday! For many years, all was well in this land of fairies and tales. For the ladies: he is well-travelled, a connoisseur of fine dining, and a manager of a small company where he tells people what to do (when to clean, cook, go out for walks, sleep.) His business is a well-oiled machine.

But this story does turn for the dark (don’t worry, serendipity is his friend.) A year and a half ago, Mr. Rowan developed Cushing’s and oral melanoma. His humans weren’t sure what was to come, except to just live and appreciate everyday. They gave Mr. Rowan every reason to want to stay around (pan seared sushi grade fish, très bon!)

While timing was unintentional, Rowan completed his final radiation therapy the day before his birthday last year. And it brings us here today, where he got to celebrate his sweet (maybe) 16th with this family!
