Pet's Story or Bio
I adopted Jerry on Sept. the 16th of 2019. When I first saw him in the shelter there was an instant connection. Prior to adopting him, one of the shelter workers informed me that he was heart worm positive. I knew in my heart that I would do whatever was needed to get him treated and adopt him. We immediately started Jerry on his heart worm treatment and he was doing well. He instantly connected with me and never left my side. He literally followed me everywhere, and still does. He would sleep right next to my chest. Two weeks after adopting Jerry I started getting sick. What I thought was a chest cold turned out to be an underlying heart problem that would require surgical correction. After getting sick, Jerry helped me with my anxiety and worry. I felt like he knew I had a heart problem. I had my heart procedure done on March 17th of this year. Jerry never left my side. He truly became my little angel. Now, I donate money in his name to help shelter dogs that are heart worm positive and we advocate for heart worm awareness. I also serve on a committee for The Alex Betzhold Memorial Fund and we raise funds to provide free heart screenings to youth ages 12 - 22 through the Living For Zachary Organization. I also advocate for adults to get screenings. Together, Jerry and I have become advocates and voices for Heart Health. #jerrytherescuedog
