Dog? What dog? 🤪

I’ve had Bella for 2 1/2 years now. She had an abusive owner who couldn’t take care of her. By the time he relinquished her to me, over a third of her body was covered in mange and she had open sores everywhere. She was malnourished at 43 lbs. had parasites, mites and an infection so bad, her neck was swollen to the size of a grapefruit.

She attached herself to me very quickly as I nursed her back to health. She has been tied to my hip ever since.

It took 6 months for her skin to stop crawling every time I touched her, a year before her tail would wag, and is just now starting to offer me her belly to rub so she has lots of trust issues.

I’m happy to announce, she weighs a healthy 57 pounds now. Sadly though, she still suffers from nightmares.

She cuddles with me every night and is such a sweet girl. She loves her blanket and plays very gently with my smaller dogs though she goes all out at the park with the big ones. We are still working on stay as she thinks when I turn my back to her, she can move.
