So, after Momma's best friend Maggie passed away (See other entry "Maggie"), Momma didn't want any more animals, or so she thought. Time passed, and though Momma misses her 2 decade long companion, she finally came to the realization that there are other dogs out there needing care and love. Momma searched all around for about 6 months. She hit websites for shelters, The SPCA, rescues and ultimately found Rainey at our local Tri-City Animal Shelter. Rainey is a 7 yo Lab mix. She is a very skittish dog at first and doesn't take to men as fast as women. There is some history there with her Momma thinks. The shelter could only tell us that she was picked up by animal control, and had been at the shelter a couple of months. Momma went to meet her and actually cried saying she couldn't leave her. Rainey has not left Mommas side since she came home with her about 3 months ago. They are 2 peas in a pod. Rainey is even a bit protective of her which we love. Rainey has her own journey but is slowly coming out of her shell and that is absolutely a credit to Mommas love and care that she has shown animals her whole life.
