Velvet is a 14.5 year old black & white "caped" female shorthair. I had adopted two rescue black & white female shorthair cats with a caped pattern in 1999. In December of 2006, a friend told me that his cat had had a litter of kittens (before being spayed) and one of them looked just like my Polly & Dot. When I met the kitten, I thought she was a "purrfect" match for my other cats and adopted her at 8 weeks old. She had soft, silky fur and I named her "Velvet". From the start, she ruled the household, but got along great with her "big sisters". Polly & Dot both passed away in 2017 and a few months later, I adopted a rescue orange tabby named Mango. Velvet has always been extremely playful and is very intelligent, feisty, and regal. She enjoys sitting on her various "thrones" to survey her queendom.
