A little about me...
I first met Opal in March 2023; she was teeming with energy and had an unparalleled thirst for adventure. Opal was born blind and deaf, with every other aspect of her amplified in amazing ways! She hit it off immediately with her new brother, Edgar, and I chased after her for the year to come.

There were days I questioned if I was in over my head. I found myself with the most energetic dog and couldn’t call her name or catch her as she athletically jumped and sprinted circles around me. Nothing slowed her down and I was left wide-eyed and winded! We went on daily walks where I was endlessly encircled and wrapped in a leash. Despite an eagerness to sprint, we spent weeks learning how to walk down stairs and navigate furniture. Edgar, her sighted and much larger brother, was at first bewildered, then jumped right in to teach her everything I couldn’t.

Opal quickly took on the role of ambassador. Wherever we went she impressed the people she met, proving she was every bit as capable, loving, and amazing as they come! Her fearlessness and love for life has left me with the job of convincing many she has special needs of any kind. She’s showed everyone she’s met that no label or diagnosis comes with predetermined behavior or limits; she’s going to live the fullest life…and then some!
