Share Your Rescue's Story - What would you like to share with the voters about him/her?
Casper age 9 was suddenly without a home, overweight at 120 lbs and his best friend Mahogany (14 yrs) had passed away. Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue (LAF) rescued Casper and Mahogany from the Carson, CA shelter with only minutes to spare after they had been surrendered.

Casper was scheduled for surgery to remove several skin cancer lesions. After his surgery he was moved to the LAF boarding facility to begin his recovery. Casper could barely walk because he was extremely overweight with arthritis. His elbows and ankles had terrible, painful calluses. All the LAF Volunteers and boarding staff took him under their wing to show him life would be wonderful.

Casper recovered quickly! After just a few weeks he was able to walk more than a few steps. He joined in on the pack walks. His calluses were no longer bleeding, cracked and angry. He incredibly lost 22 lbs in just a few months!! Thanks to the LAF Volunteers he had the best quality food and joint medicine. And thanks to all the staff at the boarding facility he received the love and care he needed around the clock.

I began taking him on field trips to work. The office girls fell in love with him and he has a fan club with many of the office complex tenants waiting to see him on every visit. On weekends I would bring him home for baths and began to introduce him to my girl. Slowly Casper began to love again and now has a senior female pal to share his life with. He is no longer alone.

Casper is resilient, full of love and loves life. He is loyal, loving and delightfully silly. Needless to say, I LOVE THIS BOY.
