Contest Entry

To submit your pet's photo, a minimum $20 donation is required.
Entries must be submitted online. You may submit as many entries as you like.
Once entered, all photos become the property of the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County and can be used, edited, or modified for print or marketing purposes.
Any photo or caption deemed inappropriate as determined by the staff of HSTPC will be removed from the photo contest.
Your pet does not have to be adopted from the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County to be eligible to enter this contest.

Photo Requirements

Photos must be in LANDSCAPE or HORIZONTAL mode.
Photos should be in focus and of high quality, in either .jpg or .png format.
Photos should have file size of 2MB or higher.
Photos must be in color.
Photos must contain only pets – no humans.
We cannot accept photos with digital overlays, photo stickers, doodles or any digital effects.
All photos must be submitted by the photographer who took the photo. Photos with copyrights must receive the express consent of the owner of the copyright for usage rights in the pet photo contest.
If photos include pets not owned by the person entering the photo, the entrant must receive written permission from the pet's owner for usage in the contest.

Contest Voting

Each entry is $20.
Every $1 donation counts as one vote (minimum of five votes, or $5).
Due to processing costs, a minimum $5 donation is required
Votes are unlimited.
All donations from voting and entries are non-refundable.
Voting can be done online or by calling 253-284-5814. Votes over the phone must be received by 12pm on Friday, September 16. After noon on September 16, only online voting will be allowed.
- Voting in person at our shelter will not be allowed.
An email address is required to make an online donation so a receipt with tax information can be sent to the donor. If you would not like to receive shelter news and solicitations via email in the future, there is a checkbox that you can un-check at the time of your donation.

Contest Deadlines

The submission period begins at 9:00:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Monday, July 18, 2022.
The submission period ends at 6:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Friday, September 16, 2022.
The voting period begins at 9:00:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Monday, July 18, 2022.
The voting period ends at 6:00:00 PM (Pacific Time) on Friday, September 16, 2022.

Contest Winners

Contest winners will be contacted by September 21, 2022 with information on their prizes.
A shelter staff member will download the winner's submitted entry photo and will contact the winner if the photo is not a horizontal, high resolution, print quality image. Winners with photos that don't meet these standards will be required to send in an alternate photo.

If an alternate photo is requested, it must be provided by October 1, 2022 to meet calendar printing deadlines.
If a contest winner fails to respond or provide an alternate photo by October 1, 2022, HSTPC may select a replacement winner from the next non-winning, eligible top vote-getter.

The Grand Prize Winner's photography session must take place between September 19, 2022 and October 19, 2022.

A shelter staff member will act as a liaison between Van Gachnang Photography and the Grand Prize Winner to schedule the photography session at a mutually agreed upon time.

Calendars will be mailed by December 21st.
Prize announcements will be revealed at thehumanesociety.org/calendar-contest within one week of the contest end-date.
