Pet's Story or Bio
I met Blue in February of 2012 on my way home from work. 5 months had passed since losing my beloved Canaan Dog Sophie..and gravity or ping in the heart pulled me to look at the Tacoma Humanes Society for a new best friend. It didn't happen that day. But I kept checking new arrivals on their website. One day I saw the picture of a Cattle Dog with big ears. On another day, coming home from work, I stopped into the Humanes Society just see his face and a maybe. I left with a journey. This good-looking 10 month old herding breed barked at everything. Every walk we tried the guy went crazy ( pulling, barking, lunging..at walkers, bikes, dogs, anything moving). I cried. Sophie had been so shy and sweet. This guy was a handful. At work, and I work at a hospital, I shared my story with a pet therapy duo. She gave me a card after hearing about my new misfit pal. Go to Ewetopia. It's in Roy, WA. They can help. I was literally almost in anxiety attack mode when we drove onto the property. "Leave your dog in the car". I was pessimistic....ya they cannot help this situation. I walked down and followed their instructions. Eventually brought him out. They worked with he and I. We kept coming back. We learned to be a team and herd sheep. He learned to trust and I him. We became buddies with lots of other dogs, people, and he the cat whisperer to his two cat siblings. God they adore eachother and play. Cuddle daily, nightly. This journey brought me a new life. Our human and pet relationship helped me with depression and loss. It helped me cope through suicidal ideation. Today Blue has a blue ribbon in some kind of herding event. We have so many new friends. He sleeps with me every night for 10 years. Blue is family, king of all hearts. He saved my life and makes me smile everyday. I thank the Humanes Society and Ewetopia for our fateful connection.
