Pet's Story or Bio
Mona was adopted from the Tacoma Humane Society in July of 2015. Liz, her person, had been casually checking their website for quite some time when one evening Mona caught her eye. She called out of work the next day and arrived before opening only to find a line of folks waiting outside. "They must all be here for that dog" she thought to herself. Fortunately for Mona & Liz, the other folks had flocked to the Humane Society to try to snag other creatures needing homes that had been surrendered. Liz quickly filled out paperwork, before even going to see Mona, and then entered the kennel. Photos can be deceiving and the dog that Liz thought had been around 35 pounds turned out to only be 16! The very first thing Liz said to Mona was "You are so small!"

They had a visit in the little concrete room where pets and people can get to know each other. Liz tried to get Mona to play, but mostly Mona wanted to curl up on Liz's lap. When the Humane Society staff member came into check on them Mona let her know that she'd called dibs on Liz by getting a little upset when it was time to separate, and the rest is history.

Now Mona spends most of her days moonlighting as a shop dog at Stocklist Goods in Downtown Tacoma. She comes to work with Liz, but has a job all her own during the day. With dog beds in most corners of the store, offices and stockrooms, Mona can often be found napping. She most enjoys sunny mornings when she can lay *just* outside the door soaking up all the sweet sunshine she can. As the morning sun sneaks away and over the top of the building she will creep further and further out onto the sidewalk following the suns path until she admits defeat and returns inside to await her hours of bliss in the sun the following day. Mona mostly enjoys visits from other dogs that stop by the store, but truly enjoys time spent with her best dog friends, Rose & Iggy. Mona's co-workers sometimes share their lunch with her, and she gets lots of pets and the occasional big hug from LaKymbria, Taylor, Fox, Autumn, Talia, Sophia and Lyra. Lots of folks talk to Mona as they pass by the store on the sidewalk, or while visiting inside, but she usually doesn't talk back. Unless there are treats involved... One of her favorite people, Carolyn, brings treats with her to give to Mona when she comes to visit on her daily walks! She loves all the delivery drivers that come to Stocklist, but especially Erica with UPS.

Mona is proud of her Tacoma Humane Society roots and to call Tacoma home. She hopes you vote for her and also wants you to know her employer is matching any donation made in her name. #monarosathedog
