Enter the 2026 Mural Muse Photo Contest for a chance to see your beloved companion transformed into a larger-than-life mural at the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County. The three pets with the most votes will be featured in a vibrant new mural by local artist Mary Mann.

Rules

Contest Entry

All entries must feature living pets.
Your pet does not have to be adopted from HSTPC to be eligible to enter this contest.
To submit your pet's photo, a minimum $25 donation is required.
Entries must be submitted online. You may submit as many entries as you like.
Submitted pets are limited to dogs, cats, and domesticated small animals (hamsters, birds, reptiles, etc.) No farm animals and no wildlife.
Once entered, all photos become the property of the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County for the use of further promoting the contest on social media, email, etc.
Any photo or caption deemed inappropriate as determined by the staff of HSTPC will be removed from the photo contest.
Completed mural will remain in place for at least two years.

Photo Requirement

Photo must feature one pet only.
Photos must contain only pets – no humans.
We cannot accept photos with digital overlays, photo stickers, doodles or any digital effects.
If photos include pets not owned by the person entering the photo, the entrant must receive written permission from the pet's owner for usage in the contest.

Contest Voting

Each entry is $25.
Every $1 donation counts as one vote (minimum of five votes, or $5).
Due to processing costs, a minimum $5 donation is required
Votes are unlimited.
All donations from voting and entries are non-refundable.
Voting in person at our shelter will not be allowed.

Contest Deadlines

The submission and voting periods begin at 9:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Thursday, March 19, 2026
The submission and voting periods end at noon (12:00 PM Pacific Time) on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
Contest winners will be contacted by April 1, 2026 with information on their prizes.
The tops three winners must provide three additional photos of their pet to ensure the artist accurately captures dog's physical characteristics and personality. These pictures must be received by April 4, 2026.
If a contest winner fails to respond by April 3, 2026, HSTPC may select a replacement winner from the next non-winning, eligible top vote-getter.
