About Your Pet
Mr Oats is a Chihuahua/Pug mix. I think the Pug in him mellows out that chihuahua energy. I says he’s chihuahua in the front and pug in the back.
One day about 5 years ago I went to Pet Smart on my lunch break to get a fish and it happened to be Big Dog Rescue’s Adoption Day. There he was in a cage with his brother - they were called Hal & Oats. He was the cutest thing I’d ever seen - and so calm and quiet.
When I came back to our landscape job with him, everyone said, “That’s not a fish.” Then I told my client that his brother was still there, she immediately got in her car and adopted him too. A very good day for all!
Mr. Oats is very easy going. He doesn’t dig or jump on people or chew on things or run away. He’s afraid of cats and squirrels and really all other animals. He likes to ride in my truck and go to Tallahasssee Nurseries (where they have bones as big as his face!) and lie around on the job site and watch us work.
I love that he sleeps “under” his bed on my bed or creeps under the covers when it’s really cold. He only weighs 10 pounds and smells good, so he’s an excellent hot water bottle in the winter.
He used to have bad dreams every night when I first got him, but now he wakes up later than I do! I love to see his tiny cute face peek out of the covers in the morning.
He’s the best little friend in the whole world and I feel so lucky to have found him.
