About Your Pet
This spunky girl was rescued by a lineman during Hurricane Michael. He was able to coax her out of the storm drain with chicken noodle soup. Her name comes from the Cherokee word for water. She quickly moved on from those first traumatic months and hasn’t looked back. She has doubled her weight, exceeding expectations. She may often be compared to an old man but she has the energy to keep up with anyone. It’s almost impossible to wear her out. But she only has two speeds: (1) on and fast or (2) off and asleep. She has started making friends: canine and human. Her groomers greet her each time: “Ama dog, not a cat”!

She’s a little dog who does everything big. She knows how to use her voice, just ask anyone who surprises her at Lowe’s or Home Depot. 😬 Ama is a huge people pleaser and lover. She gives the best hugs (literally wraps her front and back legs around you) and insists on being the little spoon each morning for a few minutes of cuddling. She is not an official service dog but her presence is therapeutic bringing so much joy to her parents, elevating stress and instantly causing strangers to smile.
