About Topeka Community Cat Fix (TCCF)

The mission of TCCF is to reduce overpopulation and improve the lives of community cats living in Shawnee County Kansas through Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR). Additionally, TCCF attempts to involve and educate the public about community cats and the benefits of TNVR and maintain open communication with other local animal welfare groups and supporters.

Community cats are free-roaming cats who make their homes outdoors. These cats may be feral (unsocialized to humans), abandoned, or lost. Community cats trapped by TCCF volunteers are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for internal and external parasites, ear tipped to identify their status as fixed, and returned to their original location where a colony caregiver provides food and shelter. Neutering male cats helps to decrease undesirable behaviors such as fighting and urine marking. Spayed female cats are no longer subject to frequent repeated pregnancies, and fewer kittens are born into potentially unforgiving conditions. Additionally, the relationship between these cats and people who live near them is improved as nuisance behaviors are reduced.

TCCF is committed to decreasing the proliferation of cats and kittens through TNVR. Since its inception in 2014, TCCF has spayed and neutered over 10,500 cats, saving tens of thousands of homeless cats and kittens from harsh lives and even death on the streets and reducing the burden on local animal shelters.
